Passion Church San Diego

pas·sion church [pash-uhn church]
1. a group of students and non-students committed to reaching the lost through radical love and obedience to Christ on the UCSD campus and in the greater San Diego area
2. a simple or organic church

What does a church meeting look like?
Each meeting with other believers may look different from church plant to church plant, but incorporates the basic elements of church: fellowship, worship, prayer, the study of scripture and ministry to each other and to those in need. Here at Passion Church, we like to call them the 5 W’s. They are:

Welcome
Simply greeting and welcoming each other into our homes. Praise reports and prayer requests are shared. We also ask each other what we did last week to be obedient to what the Holy Spirit spoke to us through God’s Word.

Worship
This is probably Passion Church’s favorite part of meeting together. Most often we sing songs of praise and worship, although we are free to express our love to God in other forms of art such as poetry, prose and dance.

Waiting
After worshiping, we spend a brief amount of time waiting on God and listening for His voice. What we hear from God we share to encourage and edify our brothers and sisters.

Word
Diving into God’s Word using inductive Bible study, we study scripture and listen to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to us as a church and as individuals. Each of us is then responsible for putting what we learned/heard into action. (James 1:22)

Works
During this time, we ask if there is anyone that is in need spiritually, physically, or even financially. This could be someone we know outside our church plant. We meet that need in prayer, giving and caring.

Last but not least…

Food!
Part of gathering together as believers is to share a meal with each other. We may go out to eat, or someone may opt to prepare food for everyone. This is part of fellowshipping and sharing our lives with each other.
